- To find out more about using "GEMDB Tags" and "GEMDB Sample Tags", please also refer to the manual section on "GEMDB Tags" versus "GEMDB Sample Tags".
How to use this option
- Select TAGS»GEMDB SAMPLE from the 'GENica Marker Tools' menu.
- A table with the "Sample Tags" you have previously created is displayed. The table can be sorted by the different column headers by clicking on them.
- Click on the link next to a sample to carry out one of the following actions:
- [VIEW SAMPLES]: Open the tagged samples in the GEMDB»SEARCH interface. This gives access to its "combine searches" feature, as well as its display and export options.
- [EDIT SAMPLE TAGS]: Remove records from a "GEMDB Sample Tag". In the interface this opens, click on [UNTAG] next to the unwanted sample(s). This will only remove the tag from an entry, but won't delete it from the database.
- [SET PROVENANCE]: Add information about the provenance (e.g. a seed collection) and the country of origin for all the tagged samples.
- [SET SPECIES]: Change the species specified for all tagged samples.
- [DELETE TAG]: Delete a tag. This will remove the tag from all the GEMDB Samples, but will not delete the samples from the database.
- [DELETE SAMPLES]: Remove all the tagged samples permanently from the GEMDB database.
IMPORTANT:
Deleting tagged samples with [DELETE SAMPLES] removes them permanently from the GEMDB database.
- To double-check which entries will be deleted, open a "GEMDB Sample Tag" in GEMDB»SEARCH and review the selected records on-line or after exporting them.
- Only the records within a tag that a user has edit / delete rights to can be deleted.
