GMT Tutorial Exercise 23 - Workflow 1 - Step 13

Import panel information into GeneMapper

General:
  • Analysing marker data in GeneMapper is straighforward, as the Automated Designer for Genetic Analysis macro automatically writes all of the required information into the sample submission and panels files.
  • For general information on using GeneMapper®, please refer to Applied Biosystem's product documentation, e.g. their guide to microsatellite analysis.

  1. Open GeneMapper and select Tools » Panel Manager from the menu tollbar. The Panel Manager dialog box appears.

  2. Click on "Panel Manager" in the left-hand box. A list containing the "chemistry kits" currently available in GeneMapper appears in the right-hand box.

  3. Select File » Import Panels on the file menu.
Browse for the panel file written by the macro. This is located in the directory folder that was created for the experiment, and is called: "<experiment name>_panelFILE.txt".
When correctly imported, a folder with the experiment name appears in the left-hand box of the Panel Manager window. Click on the new folder icon in the right-hand box to view the imported marker panels.

  4. Click OK to save changes and to close the Panel Manager window.
