Select markers in map regions of interest by copy / pasting them into a marker list for your work

  1. Use the Excel select (left-click and drag the mouse curser across cells to be selected), copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) functions to create a new Excel file with a list of multiplex-readyTM markers that are found in regions of interest on the genetic maps.
Be sure to select the MRTTM marker codes (hvnnnn for barley, tannnn for wheat), not the published marker names.
  2. Paste all the marker names thus "collected" from different maps into the same column, then use the Data » Sort menu option for that column. This will get rid of empty cells.
  3. Remove duplicate entries, either manually or with the Data » Remove Duplicates option available in Excel 2007.
