GMT Tutorial Exercise 12

Import data into DARTS

  1. Open the "DARTS_import_example.txt" file (downloaded in Exercise 3) in a spreadsheet viewer and take note of the way the data is formatted. It is likely that you will have to make some small changes to your own DArT® report files before you can import them into DARTS, e.g. correcting the spelling and punctuation of column headers, inserting columns / rows to place the fields in their correct location as shown in the example file.
  2. Login to GENica Marker Tools.
  3. Select DARTS, then select IMPORT, to reach the DARTS»IMPORT interface shown in the screenshot below.
  4. Click on Browse and select the file to be imported ("DARTS_import_example.txt", downloaded in Exercise 3).
  5. Select the Project / Group under which to store the data to be imported: "your name_demo", see Exercise 4.
  6. Leave Platform Used as 'unknown'; the example import file has an entry in the platform field.
  7. Select "bread wheat (4565 : Triticum aestivum)" from the Species options.
  8. Click Import.
  9. Either wait for the import results, or retrieve them from the ADMIN»DASHBOARD "System Messages" box at a later time.
  10. A table will appear that details the data that has been imported.
  11. Click Finished. The "DARTS»BROWSE" interface opens automatically, where imported data can be reviewed, see Exercise 13.
