Description

  • Select FILES»LIST from the main 'GENica Marker Tools' menu to go to this option.
  • This option allows sharing files with other 'GENica Marker Tools' users, restrictions to the size and type of files that can be shared apply.
  • Come here to download the most up-to-date version of the "Automated Designer" macros and related documentation (What's this?). Last updated on 15 February 2007, please be sure to down-load copies of the Automated Designers if you are using previous versions.
  • For information on how files can be uploaded, see the section on FILES»UPLOAD.

How to use this option

  • The FILES»LIST table displays the name, size and posting time of files that are available for download.
  • Rearrange the table by clicking on the header of the column by which the data is to be sorted.
  • Click on the [DOWNLOAD] link next to the file you wish to download.
  • The "Automated Designer macros" are compressed to reduce file size, and will need to be "unzipped" (e.g. with Microsoft's "Extraction Wizard") after they have been saved to your computer.
  • Any user can currently post files on this site with FILES»UPLOAD. Users with group administrator status can delete files by clicking on the [DELETE] link next to a file (this link is hidden from users without group administrator status). Please see your group administrator if you feel a file you have posted should be removed.

The Automated Designers

  • The Automated Designer macros help design marker screening and genotyping experiments with "multiplex-ready" markers. They serve as electronic lab books and streamline the experiment design and PCR set-up.
  • Information required by the Automated Designers is a list of sample names, marker binning information as generated e.g. by BINNER»MRT TAGS and general PCR parameters (desired reaction volume, column- or row-wise PCR plate set-up, etc.).
  • The output generated by the Automated Designers can be used for sample tracking during genotyping on a ABI3730 sequencer and during the subsequent analysis with GeneMapper.
  • To find out what the Automated Designer macros do and how to use them:
IMPORTANT:
  • The Automated Designer macros were written using Microsoft Excel 2003, and may not function properly with older versions.
  • Before setting up an experiment with the "Automated Designer" macros, always visit FILES»LIST and check that you use the most recent version. This is important as the macros contain marker data that corresponds to information in the MARKERS Table. Whenever the information in the MARKERS Table is updated, an up-dated version of the macro is posted on FILES»LIST at the same time.
  • The Automated Designer macros and the MARKERS Table were last updated on 15 February 2007.
